Paulina Villarreal

ABOUT
Paulina Villarreal is a mezzo-soprano and voice educator whose work brings together performance, voice pedagogy, and a commitment to Latin American and Iberian vocal repertoire. She serves as Assistant Professor of Voice at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. A recipient of Yamaha’s Excellence in Music Education Award and a 2024 Yamaha “40 Under 40” educator, Villarreal maintains an active professional life across teaching, performance, scholarship, and artistic projects.
As a performer, Villarreal has appeared with organizations including the Tanglewood Music Center, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Princeton Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Opera, Opera Saratoga, and Opera Memphis. She is Founder and Artistic Director of Cantos para el Mundo in Mexico and serves on the voice faculty of the Hawai‘i Performing Arts Festival. Her work as a teacher, clinician, lecturer, and researcher has taken her to institutions and conferences throughout the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
